Oregon Centennial
90 days, semi-determinate — Introduced byGill Bros. Seed Company in 1959 and named in honor of Oregon’s first 100 years of statehood. The plants are healthy and productive with fruit that are red in color, oblate in shape, and quite tasty. In their 1963 catalog, the Gill’s described it as follows:
“A new tomato with many valuable features. Fruit averages quite large, often weighing a pound each. The deep red interior color, along with a very solid, extra red exterior, makes the tomato well suited for canning, market, or home use. The seed pockets are small and numerous, resulting in a very firm fruit. somewhat acid and good flavor.“[1]
Our stock was grown out from USDA accession number PI 636295. Their records indicate that they received their seed directly from Gill Bros. Seed Company in 1964. Each packet contains approximately 20 seeds.
