70 days — Considered a gourmet variety, ‘Red Romaine’ adds color and tartness to a tossed green salad. The leaf colors vary from green to deep red to bronze and which develop darker in cooler weather.
Bred and introduced by the Dessert Seed Company, El Centro, California in 1950, it was reportedly from a selection of a variety originating from Africa. Each packet contains one gram, which is approximately 500 to 600 seeds.
